We stayed at this resort in 2007. It is fantastic. Elegant and lush. The bathrooms in the suites are as large as the rooms in many other resorts. Need more space you have got to try the villas. They even have their own dolphins to swim with.
We wondered how they got such outstanding fresh food at this resort. We found out much of it is grown on the resort by the kitchen staff. Simply unbelievable.
The Half Moon Resort has attracted many luminaries of the day including Joan Crawford and her husband Alfred Steel (CEO of Pepsi-Cola), Clark Gable and HRH Princess Margaret. Other notable guests include HRH Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Philip, and HRH the Prince of Wales; John F. and Jacqueline Kennedy, Prince Rainer of Monaco; and George H. W. Bush, when he was Vice President. This is the type of place that attracts those who know luxury and expect only the best for their travel dollar.
Over the years, Half Moon has undergone several renovations and additions, most recently, the multi-million dollar demolition and rebuilding of its 50-year-old beachfront rooms. Today, Half Moon stretches across 400 lushly landscaped acres, with 34 stately three- to seven-bedroom villas, each with its own personal staff and pool, 152 luxurious suites and 46 breathtaking rooms. Eleven of the original cottages remain today, a tribute to the legacy of the founders, whose descendants remain as resort shareholders.
Half Moon features a championship, 72-par Robert Trent Jones, Sr. golf course, 18-hole putting green, 13-lit tennis courts, a full range of water sports, an exclusive natural Dolphin Lagoon, six gourmet restaurants and over half a dozen informal snack bars, a world class spa (The Fern Tree) and it's very own shopping village.
